10 mistakes that will cause your application to visit Canada to be refused

Based on the unique requirements of each Canadian Visa Application, there are many reasons why your application may be refused. We’re going to dig into these in a minute, but first, it’s important to understand the types of refusals: refusal and returns.

An application may be refused if the applicant has failed to prove finances, provide supporting documents, or meet health, security, or criminal record standard requirements. On the other hand, an application may be returned as a result of missing documents or incorrectly filled out applications. Before you apply, be sure to brush up on the types of Canadian visas and what their requirements are.

As an expert in the Canada immigration application industry, we’re sharing 10 possible reasons why your application may have been refused or returned.

1.     Insufficient travel history

If an applicant has not traveled outside of their home country before, their application will likely be weaker compared to others who have experience in travelling.

2.     Proof of funds

You may not meet the fund requirement for your trip to visit Canada. This is usually a standard amount set by the Canadian government based on the number of people accompanying you and the length of your stay.

3.     Source of current funds

Expanding on point #2, your application may be refused depending on where your current funds were obtained from.

4.     Failure to provide supporting documents

There are several supporting documents that you must include in order for your temporary resident visa or immigration Canada application to be accepted.

5.    Purpose of visit

The reviewer of your application may simply think that there was not enough explanation of the reason you wish to travel or live in Canada. It is very important to clearly state your reasons to apply and how long you plan to stay.

6.     Current assets

Not having assets in your home country such as a house, cars or business back home may affect your ability to prove ties.

7.     Failure to meet health standards in Canada

You may be required to undergo a medical exam before a final decision is made on your citizenship application. Serious health conditions may be a danger to others which can result in a visa refusal. This is very apparent with the COVID-19 pandemic.

8.     Human rights violations

If you have served in the military for a country that has been deemed to have participated in war crimes, you may be refused, or additional documents should be provided to overcome this inadmissibility.

9.     Current employment situation

If you are not employed, you may be questioned further on your funding and this can affect the final decision of your application.

10.   Not explaining misinformation

If you are unable to provide one of the documents required, you must provide a thorough explanation on the reason it is unavailable.
