Finding work as a recent grad in Canada

We know how stressful finding a job as a recent graduate can be, and we’re here to take some of that away from you.

The first thing on your list should be to obtain an Immigrant Post-Graduation Work Permit, and don’t worry, this sounds more complicated than it really is! The PGWP is available to those who recently graduated from a designated learning institution and are looking to stay and work in Canada. You can check the DLI list here to find out which schools have eligible programs.

If you’re eligible for the PGWP, you will have up to 180 days after your study permit ends to apply for a work permit after you get your…

  • degree or diploma,

  • official DLI transcript, or

  • official graduation letter from your school

When applying for the post-grad work permit, you need proof of study completion. You will have to provide additional supporting documentation with your application as well. It’s important to know that other documents may be requested after you submit your application.

We can assist with your PGWP application by making sure that all documents are included, correct fees are paid and the file is submitted in a timely manner.

The Job Search

After you’ve obtained your post-grad work permit, it’s time to start the job search for a career or work placement! In Canada, there are many platforms you can use to connected with designated employers in an Atlantic province. We suggest creating a profile on websites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, and Career Beacon to get a head start on the job market in your area.

On your profile for these websites, it’s important to have your educational background, work experience, top professional skills, your resume, and a professional photo of yourself, to show your authentic and qualified side.
