PNP BY PROVINCE: Nova Scotia PNP
Are you thinking about immigrating to Nova Scotia? We don’t blame you! This wonderful province has beautiful scenery, ocean views, and friendly people.
Nova Scotia is located on the east coast of Canada and is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. The province hosts several unique Provincial Nomination Programs (Nova Scotia PNPs) and is designed to attract newcomers to fill gaps in the workforce and contribute to local communities.
We’ll give you an overview of the Provincial Nominee Program in Nova Scotia, so you can head start your journey to visit NS.
To immigrate using Nova Scotia PNP, you must be nominated by the provincial government as a foreign worker that initially qualifies for the program. Successful applicants receive a nominee certificate, to which they may be eligible for Atlantic Canada Immigration under one of six streams.
1. Nova Scotia Express Entry
The Nova Scotia Express Entry program selects highly skilled individuals wishing to live in Nova Scotia permanently. You will need at least one year of work experience in Nova Scotia before you submit your application.
2. Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities
Labour Market Priorities select candidates in the federal Express Entry system who meet local labour market needs. To apply, you must receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Nominee Program within the Express Entry system.
3. Physician
The Physician stream seeks to employ general practitioners, family physicians, and specialist physicians to work in Nova Scotia and help lessen healthcare labour shortages. The Physician Stream is only open to general practitioners and family physicians (NOC 3112), and specialist physicians (NOC 3111) with signed approved opportunities with the Nova Scotia Health Authority or the IWK Health Centre.
4. Entrepreneur
This stream is for experienced business owners or senior business managers looking to start or acquire a business in Nova Scotia. They must actively participate in the day-to-day management of the company.
5. International Graduate
The International Graduate stream aims to recruit international students who want to work and live in Nova Scotia. There are currently two National Occupational Classification (NOC) job categories. This stream is open to NOC 3413: nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates and NOC 4214: early childhood educators and assistants.
6. Skilled Worker
The Skilled Worker stream targets candidates with a job offer from an approved PNP employer. It helps employers recruit foreign workers and recent graduates whose skills are needed in Nova Scotia.
